It’s pretty obvious that we love chia seeds. Not only are they an incredible source of essential fatty acids, protein and fiber, but they have an easily moldable flavor profile. You can make simple chia pudding, top them on almost any dish you’re eating, or make them into dessert–like here. This recipe is made with raw cacao, which is also a great super food. It’s made from cacao bean, is completely unprocessed and contains no added sugar–by itself it’s actually quite bitter. It’s chock-full of antioxidants and has been linked to lower cholesterol and blood pressure. This recipe is perfect if you tend to have a sweet tooth (like myself) for breakfast or a mid-day snack.

1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or coconut)
1/4 cup chia seeds
2 tbsp raw cacao powder
1 tbsp pure maple syrup
Light coconut cream (in a can)
Berries or nuts to garnish

1. Mix milk, chia seeds, cacao powder and maple syrup in a container, make sure it’s blended by using a fork then shake vigorously
2. Leave in refrigerator 6-12 hours (overnight is best)
3. Top with coconut cream and your choice of garnish
